Welcome to our May challenges... this month we are all about mixed media.
You often hear the term ‘Mixed Media’ in papercraft circles, but was does it actually mean?
Essentially Mixed Media is mixing or combining various mediums on your page or project, such as watercolour pencils, paints, inks, mediums and markers. By using various different techniques such as stamping, embossing, stenciling and paint splattering or dripping you can create a wonderful range of backgrounds to build your page upon!
There are hard and fast no rules or boundaries, so go ahead and unleash your creativity!
Donna’s Challenge – Inks and Sparkle
Use at least 2 inks however you like and add some sparkle!
Regular Mystical girls might remember I don’t have a scrapping desk at the moment!! but I managed to find some supplies to have a bit of a play 🙂
I’ve created a card using Uniquely Creative’s Among the Gum Trees range, Distress Oxide Inks, layered up some die-cuts and finished off with some Wink of Stella sparkle.
To make it a bit more special, I lined my envelope with matching paper.
Looking forward to seeing everyone take on my challenge!

Debra’s Challenge – Texture Paste
Using Texture paste and Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder (Pigment Powder) and two stencils
I have mixed the Pixie Dust Rich Gold with Ranger Texture Paste Transparent Matte and swipe through 2 different stencils, to create texture on the background. Mix a little of the shimmer powder with water in a small mister bottle, spray this over the background to add shimmer, unfortunately the shimmer doesn’t show up in the photo, but does on the layout.
Have fun getting messy with mixed media

Louise’s Challenge – Acrylic Paint & a Texture item
Welcome crafters.
What fun we are having getting our mixed media messy on!
Today I’m challenging you to use any acrylic paint and include something textural on your project.
Here is my layout:
I’ve used Dylusions Shimmer Paint “Blue Lagoon” to created a paint swipe background.
There are lots of great texture ribbons in store and I’ve used the white 22mm. This Uniquely Creative Fresh Folk Spotted paper really caught my eye. I love a paper that has some white space but still patterned so it doesn’t overwhelm the page.
With such a busy background I’ve kept the embellishing to a minimum using a chipboard frame and the Hello word from Uniquely Creative.
Can’t wait to see your acrylic paint textured layouts.
Happy Crafting.
