Welcome to our March challenges! This month and our design team are highlighting different ways to use inks all our pages this and we are getting inspired by Mood-boards.
Challenges are open till the end of the month and our winner is chosen by lucky draw.
Hi Crafters
Louise here.
March is moodboard month. We have created some fun challenges to play along with.
A moodboard is just a starting point for inspiration … it could be the whole board or a single image.
Here is mine: All about Teal
You can see the board has a general colour theme. But you could also use the images to create … there is lines in the coffee cup image, florals with the hat, texture on the cake, woodgrain. Or you could be inspired to scrap a layout of a celebration, food, outdoors or relaxing. Take inspiration from anywhere that strikes you.
My layout “Good Times”
Inspiration is firstly from the colour palette. Then I’ve used outdoors photos and circle stitching from the cake image.
To create the background, I’ve used the packaging technique with Distress Inks. Circle stitching and light embellishing was all this layout needed.
Can’t wait to see how you’re inspired by the moodboard.
Happy creating …

Hi Julie here
While Louises mood board is soft and pretty mine is very bright.
There are so many things to inspire you in this moodboard, colours, circles, flowers are just a few.
This is my layout
The background for this layout started life completely different to how it looks now.
Originally I used
Distress Inks and plastic packaging to colour where the red is now.
I used
Barn Door but when it dried it was more pink than bright red.
Not happy with the colour I used a sponge to dab red
acrylic paint over the top of the ink.
I then splattered white acrylic paint over the red.
The flower frame is a cut file from Page Evans
I used Distress Ink
Mustard Seed and a wet brush to colour the cut file and then
Carved Pumpkin and a fine brush to add a little detail to the centre of the flowers.
to fill the holes in the centre of the flowers.
I used Art Glitter glue to attach the cut file to the page
so it sat over the painted section of the background.
I am using a 6″ x 4″ photo, I filed around the edge of the photo with
I also added some cardboard to the back of the mat.
This assembly was then attached to the layout.
I used Heartfelt Creations Daisy Patch Flowers to stamp and
heat emboss three layers of the flower.
I also stamped and
heat embossed Picket Fence – Flowers for the Picking.
I used my flower shaping tools to shape all of the flowers.
All of the flowers were attached to the layout with liquid glue.
Kaisercraft DD700 Alphabet Upper Case dies
and attached using my t-ruler and liquid glue.
I used my fountain pen to draw a double scribbly border around the page and the flower centres
I have a process video you might like to watch
Hope this moodboard inspires you to create something bright this month
Till next time
Stay safe
Hugs
Julie

Mystical Team
Hi I’m new to all this, so I’m sorry if this sounds silly. But is it just a scrapbook page that we need to submit? What needs to be on it? Do we need to mention product names, as I don’t keep track of what products I buy..
I just need a bit more detail.
Thank you.
Tracey Randell
Hello Tracey, welcome to Mystical’s challenges 🙂 Our challenges vary each month, this month we are all about Mood-boards, you do not need to list supplies used, just take some inspiration from the mood-board and scrap!
You can do a layout, a set of 3 cards or an art journal. We have a private chat page on Facebook if you would like to join us the girls will help with any questions and that’s were we upload our pages as well.
